About
Alice Barclay
I am a California girl who moved to the Midwest in order to create a life that was more aligned with what I value most - family, community, friendship, spirituality, and peace. Prior to my move, I spent most of my childhood in the busy Bay Area, growing up in the heart of Silicon Valley. I lived in San Francisco for 9 years, earning my bachelor's degree from San Francisco State University. I later obtained a master's degree in Holistic Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University (now National University).
My most transformative years have been the ones I spent in grad school, internships, and, finally, as a licensed counselor working directly with children, teens, adults, families, and couples. Witnessing a client's healing journey is an honor, a privilege, and an inspiration that fulfills me to my core.
I am a client-centered, humanistic, and holistic clinician who truly believes that all healing comes from within. I simply provide the space and guidance for the magic that my clients bring. See below for more about my training and experience. I specialize in trauma therapy including Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts work and EMDR.
I am currently licensed in three states: In California I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC15918). In Colorado I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC.0017360). And, in Kansas I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC 03138). I am looking forward to the day when a national counseling license is available, and I can see clients in all states!
When I'm not being uplifted by my amazing clients, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling (aka eating at lots of restaurants in different towns), going to museums and site seeing, yoga and pilates on YouTube, and attending trainings, retreats, and improving myself.
Experience
Experiential and Trauma- Informed Care
My master's program in Holistic Counseling Psychology taught me all the traditional methods and models of psychotherapy but also provided training in transpersonal/spiritual, existential, Jungian, somatic, and even dance therapy! After graduating, I have pursued further education and training in experiential psychotherapy, play therapy, and trauma informed methods.
